Episode 543 – Needs more cowb… er, guitars

This week, Glynn is knee-deep in a new accessory sport.

Philip Johnson sent us this story about an AI-generated image that won a photo competition,
plus a heads-up on a TV show available right now (for Australian viewers) on SBS OnDemand.

Paul Sutton sent us an interesting one about how computational photography can do more damage than good,
and a story about how Photo Mechanic (the software) got its kick start thanks to the Superb Owl!
Then, a story about a DIY camera for 150 Euros that gives you 489 mega-pickles! The actual project page is here, and the f-stoppers story about it, is here.

Glynn alerted us to the US Copyright Office telling a judge that AI-generated artworks cannot be copyrighted,
then a sad story about AI-generated images being used to create false Syria-Turkiye earthquake images (and no, that is not a misspelling),
a story about electric vehicles, which we know DID exist in the late 1800’s. We’re just not sure about the accompanying images.
Christ the Redeemer reveals his electric personality,
and questions over the future of darktable on Mac.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

fastone Image Viewer is the best image viewer for zero dollars I have found for the PC.

Image viewer does everything you are asking for. Pity Google allowed Picasa to simply wither on the vine. It was a great little application, and the filters were all a mirror of the Cokin set.

    Cheers Paul
