Episode 534 – JWST amazeballs

This week, we continue to be amazed at the images being produced by the James Webb Space Telescope.

The images of Jupiter and Pluto are unlike anything humanity has ever seen before.
Paul Sutton wanted to know how we can have the best photos for 2022 when it is only August?
He also found this story of some one-hour-composites taken in famous tourist locations, showcasing just how crowded these places can be.

Glynn told us about the pair of backyard astronomers whose moon composite (made up of over 200,000 images!) rivals anything that NASA has previously shown us.

There was also this story about photographer Jessie Tarbox Beals, who would haul her 8×10 glass plate camera around the streets of New York where she captured the bohemian style of Greenwich Village in the 1920s.

The ability to capture “photos” (really, they’re just screen captures) from modern video games continues to show the advances being made in geography rendering.

And the Nikon Z9 includes a feature which will render the need for lightning triggers obsolete.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.
