Episode 527 – A rough couple of weeks

We recently shared the best piece of advice (EVER!) for those wanting to go professional with their photography… So says Richard Annable, who this week, wrote to congratulate us on such.

Paul Sutton told us about the wooden cameras which cost more than the actual cameras they replicate!
He also shared this blog post about stuff you’ll regret buying in 2022. The only thing Glynn and I are convinced of, is that this is the blog post we’ll regret reading in 2022.
This bloke has over 3000 rolls of undeveloped film which he shot in the late 60’s at a famous nightclub in Boston called the Boston Tea Party. Some of rock’s luminaries are captured on those rolls.
And a bunch of simple photography tricks for creating something a little out-of-the-ordinary.

Glynn shared this post about the Insta360 modular action camera…. yep, modular, as in, interchangeable lenses!
This one about the latest shot of Jupiter with 2 of its moons.
The creator of the gif format recently passed away,
and take your pinhole photography to the next level with the Thingify pinhole camera!

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

Bruce. Your story about the folks who flew you to their company and then suddenly stopped offering you a job reminded me of a video I recently saw. Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage discussed an important question about working “for exposure” instead of proper financial compensation and he added this bit of wisdom: If dealing with the client is weird at the beginning it’s going to be weird all the way through. So, yes, you dodged a bullet. Here’s the full video. https://youtu.be/L5De68zSf14
