Episode 470 – Serious questions demand serious answers
This week, the GDT (German Society for Nature Photography) nature photographer of the year winners show nature in all its glorious beauty,
Nikon expects “extraordinary losses” as a result of the pandemic,
and Rob Coates asks some serious questions, and in a world first… gets some serious answers! I don’t even KNOW this podcast anymore. 🙂

G’Day Incs,
Well, who’d’a thought, 22 minutes of sound advice! Never in my wildest hopes and dreams . . .
Seriously, I very much appreciate the time you spent addressing my questions regarding full frame versus crop sensor cameras.
It was all clearly explained, although a couple of parts I had to go back and listen to more than once (another first for the podcast, I’d venture).
The bottom line – that I don’t really need a full frame – was a slight surprise but very welcome, not least because I don’t need to try to convincer ‘Er Indoors to let me spend five and a half grand on a new camera and lenses.
I’ve always known my 18-200 wasn’t the Rolls Royce of lenses but as I read somewhere, it’s an ‘ideal travel lens’ which was why I originally bought it.
The only thing I wish it had is a tilting LCD screen because with my old dicky knees, if I kneel down to get a low shot, it takes me five minutes to get back up again!
Anyway, many thanks for your advice and who knows, maybe one or two of the other six listeners might have learned something too. 😊
Regards,
Rob Coates
Just re-read my comment and realise it looks like I wish my 18-200 lens had a tilting screen. What a wally!
