Shutters Inc – episode 229

This week, Glynn has had a very sick wife,
but also “became a man” (his words, not mine!),
including buying himself a set of adjustable spanners,
he’s also excited by the possibility of removing motion blur after the event,
Harry Mellos asked about the Fuji XPro 1 pros and cons,
Glynn is trying out new camera straps from Joby,
We talk about teaching photography to kids,
including littlesideclick,
RawVision,
a new version of the Petzval lens is coming soon,
the first Elinchrom studio light weighed a staggering 300kg,
and we talk about Glynn’s silhouette shot of the basketballer and his ball.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

I recognize that you received my email with my own insight on using Smart Collections in Lightroom. But I didn’t hear that you actually discussed it on a podcast. (Perhaps you guys just talked about it “off the air” at some point?)

Greg, I suspect you may be right! I’ve just been back through the last couple of episodes and can’t find any reference to your e-mail, so I’ve put it BACK in the rundown for ep #231, ok?
    Sorry mate! 🙂

Hey guys, re:the Fuji…firmware upgrades are the way to go (as you’ve found the next pdcst). They’ve been doing this since the X100. As for lenses, the 18-55 is remarkably good for a “kit” lens (2.8-4) and the 35mm f1.4 is just wonderful. The other camera you spoke of is the X-E1, which is what I have along with the X100. I’ve seldom used my DSLR’s in the last 6 months because of the Fujis. You may wish to check out the “Lens Roadmap” on Fujis site. BTW, what is the email address for SI? I’ve lost it (duh!). There’s more I want to say regarding the X series. Regards, Mark Loader (yes, its me)

Sorry I forgot to mention…Glynn – check out Lensmate and Match Technical for “thumbs up” devices for the x series. They are model specific & i got one for the X-E1. They slide in the hotshoe and you just rest your thumb in the curve. Many Fuji users dont seem to like conventional straps and this is perfect for them. The result? No need to hold the camera so tight with the right thumb, therefore better balance and less chance of shake. Worth it 😉
